A Wallflower Christmas Lisa Kleypas 9780312533786 Books

This is the love story of Rafe Bowman, brother of Lillian and Daisy--Wallflowers--and Hannah Appleton. In spite of his father's desire to have Rafe marry a lady of society, he falls in love with her penniless cousin and defies his father who almost has apoplexy. It is a good story and a sweet one and you root for Hannah all the way through the novel.
I have just begun to read the Christmas novels included in the various series and have found that they have some details and a number of facts and events I would have missed had I not read these volumes. My recommendation - buy the Christmas volumes as well as the books in the various romance series.

A Wallflower Christmas Lisa Kleypas 9780312533786 Books Reviews

I'm a relatively new reader of Lisa Kleypas, but when I find an author that I like i read everything they've already published. After my study of her published works, I began with the Wallflower series. This was the last of the 5 published books in that series and I can't wait for the next! I loved it just as much as the first four. I'm now on the 4th book in the Hathaway series. I love Cam Rohan and his brother Kev Marripen, and I'm even started to taking a liking to Leo, who's not such a rake any longer. There may already be one, but I hope there is a series about Marripen and Win, as the Liege and Lady of the Irish empire he is to inherit...with a step-mother and three unmarried half-sisters there is plenty to write about! Enjoy!
Welcome back to the world of the Wallflowers! Now, it is Rafe Bowman's turn - Lillian and Daisy's infamous brother. He is in England to court the Lady Natalie Blandford during the Christmas season.

Our beloved Wallflower ladies (Evie, Lillian, Daisy, and Annabelle) are all present and accounted for and we are given a bit of an update on where they are in their lives. However, the biggest disappointment about the book is that Kleypas touches on a few things regarding our Wallflowers which I do wish she might have gone into a little more in depth - maybe a later book?

Rafe is enjoying himself whilst in England. He has made is own fortune over the years and would like to add what his father offers as well as the Lady Natalie to his list of achievements. However, the twist comes when he starts to look in another direction ... toward Lady Natalie's cousin. Rafe's father finally makes it clear that Rafe will either choose the Lady Natalie or be cut-off from the family - gasp! Disinherited? You must read the story for yourself to see what happens.

As with most of Ms. Kleypas' books, there is fun, love, laughter, and enough steam to keep one warm on a cold evening.
Another 5 stars for me. I loved this series and really liked the brash American that set society on its ear. Rafe is a man on a mission. He wants interest in his father's company and he will stop at nothing to get it. He is told to marry the woman his father has picked for him but Hanna Applegate is not ready to turn over her charge to this inappropriate American. And then Hanna falls for him but what chance does a nobody have? Well, with L.K. everyone has a chance. Loved this story. So entertaining. Highly recommend the whole series.
I've become a big fan of Ms. Kleypas' historical romance novels beginning with MINE TILL MIDNIGHT. I've since purchased all of the "historicals" and have enjoyed all of them - once I've overcome some inaccuracies that I feel neither the author or her editor(s) should have allowed in print. I'm very detail-oriented and go a little crazy when I'm reading about a character who becomes "younger" (!?!) from one novel to another (Poppy Hathaway in MINE TILL MIDNIGHT & SEDUCE ME AT SUNRISE for instance), has a character says she's known another character for fifteen years on one page, and later says she's known him for twelve years on another page in the same book, etc! But if you can forgive these types of "errors" you can lose yourself in these books and come to love the lead characters as much as I have.

I especially enjoy her "character-hopping" novels and this latest definitely falls into that category allowing her fans to re-visit the four Wallflowers (now that they're all married and mothers - exception being Daisy), getting to know Raphael (Rafe) Bowman, and the "honorary Wallflower" Hannah Appleton. I'm beginning to believe that Marcus Marsden, Lord Westcliff, must be a personal favorite of the author as this is the seventh or eight of her historal romances that he's appeared in. My personal favorite is Cam Rohan aka ... well I'd better not reveal that if you haven't yet read SEDUCE ME AT SUNRISE, right? The Wallflowers are all spirited ladies, true friends, and I've grown attached to them and recommend the novel (and audio book) to those who haven't yet gotten into it. I would advise that you begin with the first book in the series, SECRETS OF A SUMMER NIGHT and read the succeding three plus A WALLFLOWER CHRISTMAS in chronological order. These women would do quite well in the 21st century!

I look forward to the other books in the HATHAWAY series (I hope the next one will be about Leo Hathaway, Lord Ramsay) because I especially love the humorous remarks that the author has coming out of her characters mouths.

I may now invest in her contemporary novels, and hope that I will enjoy them as much as I have the historical romances.
This novella is a followup to Kleypas' successful Wildflowers series. It tells the story of Rafe Bowman, oldest brother of the wallflower Lillian and Daisy. Rafe has come to England because his father has found him an aristocratic woman to marry. Of course, Rafe is immediately attracted to his potential bride's companion, Hannah.

The story takes place at Christmas and Kleypas has incorporated some historical information about celebration Christmas in the mid 1800s.

I enjoyed best getting an update on the Wallflowers. The main story was sweet, but certainly not as good as the main books in the series. The original wallflowers and their men just seem to be bigger than this story and I was almost more interested in the peek into their lives than anything else. I would recommend the novella, however, to fans of the series because the update was worth the price of the book.
